Harrison Ballard latest commitment to Hounds Program

Sault Ste Marie Soo Greyhounds

SAULT STE MARIE, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  September 23, 2022 (LSNews)  Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced today that Harrison Ballard has agreed to, and signed, an OHL Standard Player Agreement and education package with the Program.

Ballard, from Stouffville ON. was obtained by the Greyhounds on August 25 from the Kingston Frontenacs after originally being selected by that club in the 8th Round of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.

“We feel that Harrison is just scratching the surface in terms of the player he can be. It was fortunate that we were able to work out a trade to bring him into our training camp right from day one. Since then he has done all the right things, coming to the rink ready to learn and push himself every day” started Raftis when explaining the latest signee.

“He’s got great speed and a workhorse mentality. It will be only a matter of time before he sees evidence of his development as he gets more comfortable working with everyone in the Soo” he added.

One year ago (2021-22) Ballard played in 54 games with the Wellington Dukes of the OJHL where he had 28 points thanks to an even 14 goals and 14 assists.
He was one of four players from that league to appear early on the NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary ‘Players to Watch’ list for the 2022 draft.

In 2019-20 Harrison was Captain of the York Simcoe Express U16 AAA club where he had 39 points in 36 games played.

“I’m very honoured and excited to sign and play for the Soo. It has always been a dream of mine to play in this league, and I’m ecstatic to play for one of the best and most storied franchises in the CHL.  I am really looking forward to learning from the coaching staff and playing in front of some of the best fans in the league” began Ballard before offering his personal thanks.

“I would like to thank all my past trainers and coaches for contributing to my development but most importantly my family for always supporting me and making many sacrifices for me to get to this point” Ballard concluded.
