Sudden Death Darrel Avenue is Matthew BOUCHARD

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~   September 9, 2022  (LSN)News)  Thunder Bay Police are release the name of the Body Found 100 block of Darrel Avenue just after noon on Wednesday, Aug. 31, following reports of a body possibly being spotted in a nearby waterway. 

After 10 day following continued investigation, which included consultation with the Coroner’s Office, the Thunder Bay Police Service is now able to confirm the deceased was Matthew BOUCHARD, 38, of Thunder Bay.


Matthew BOUCHARD, 38.was last seen on Sunday, Aug. 21 at about 3 p.m. in the 100 block area of Frederica Street West. There has been no new confirmed sightings and family is increasingly concerned for his wellbeing.

If you live in the Westfort area, police ask that you check your properties for signs of Matthew. If you have home or business surveillance in the area, please review footage and contact police if you have anything that may assist investigators.

Matthew requires medication for a medical condition and it is believe he is not in possession of that required medication.

Matthew is described as a White male, standing about 5'7" tall with a thin build and fair complexion. He has short brown hair, brown eyes and has a tattoo of Angel wings on his back.

Matthew was last believed to be wearing a blue shirt, grey jogging pants and white shoes.

It’s made Thunder Bay the highest per capita opioid death rate in Ontario.

The 44 deaths were a 40 per cent increase from 2017, a year in which Thunder Bay also held the highest provincial rate.

Between July 2017 and June 2018, nearly 3,900 naloxone kits were handed out by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and local pharmacies,
