Kenney hopes to scrap Alberta vaccine passport program soon

Lockdowns only reduced COVID deaths by 0.2 per cent Johns Hopkins University

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  February 4, 2022  (LSNews)  Alberta could be lifted later this month, including the province’s vaccine passport program, if hospitalizations declines sufficiently, Premier Jason Kenney stated in a media Conferance Tuesday.

There is a a continuing decline in the number of total active cases” of COVID-19 and “encouraging trends” that the worst of the pandemic’s fifth wave is over in Alberta.

“Hospitalizations for COVID-19 may be beginning to plateau, although it is important to note they are still currently higher than at any other time in the pandemic,” Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said. “It’s also important to remember that the health-care system is still under significant strain. This means that any one of us who needs care for any reason should expect that the system might be a little slower right now.

On another positive story the National Post is reporting that A new study out of Johns Hopkins University is stating  that worldwide pandemic lockdowns only prevented 0.2 per cent of COVID-19 deaths and were “not an effective way of reducing mortality rates during a pandemic.”

In both Europe and the United States, researchers found that a lockdown could only be expected to bring down mortality rates by 0.2 per cent “as compared to a COVID-19 policy based solely on recommendations.” For context, 0.2 per cent of total Canadian COVID-19 fatalities thus far is equal to about 70 people.

The impact of border closures was found to be even less effective, with death rates only going down about 0.1 per cent.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  December 4, 2022  (LSNews)  Does passive policing and harm reduction improve health and safety?

Vancouver is a living, breathing example to the contrary – or perhaps more like a dying, gasping person. In his film Vancouver is Dying, Aaron Gunn demonstrates the rot of addiction and criminality that is destroying one of Canada’s most beautiful cities – and why it’s probably about to get even worse.

Convoy Bank Account Freeze Should Send a Chill Down the Spine of Every Canadian 3 December 2022

Convoy Bank Account Freeze Should Send a Chill Down the Spine of Every Canadian

Citizens should be afraid, be very afraid, to quote Wednesday Adams, but this is no joke

OTTAWA, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~   December 3, 2022 (LSNews)  At the Public Order Emergencies Commission Inquiry we heard a litany of reasons for the Trudeau government’s draconian decision to freeze the bank accounts of Freedom Convoy members. The careless nature of the order and along with the rationale for doing it, which you could, if you excuse the pun, drive a truck through, bespeaks a regime teetering on the edge of authoritarianism. It wasn’t enough that the Convoy’s crowdfunding sites that had raised well over $6 million from its supporters were shut down due to nefarious accusations that the Convoy was violent and being heavily financed by foreign actors in the US and Russia.
