Greyhounds receive commitment from Brodie McConnell-Barker

SAULT STE MARIE, ONTARIO ~~~~~  September 2022  (LSNews)  Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced this morning another commitment from the 2022 draft class.

Today, 2022 3rd Round Selection BRODIE MCCONNELL-BARKER agreed to a standard player agreement and education package with the Program.

‘We are thrilled that Brodie has committed to the Hounds.  Since transitioning to the blue line, Brodie has made tremendous strides in his game. He’s an agile defender with great vision from the backend. He’s also a threat when transitioning and exiting the zone’ started Raftis.

‘Brodie’s a high-calibre player and we’re excited to support him as he continues to elevate his game to become a pillar in our back end’ he concluded.

McConnell-Barker, a native of London ON, played last season (2021-22) for London Jr. Knights U16 AAA club where he recorded 8 goals and 28 assists in 33 games played.

The 5.11, 172lb defender ater added 8 points (2G, 6A) in eight playoff contests.

‘Waiting to be selected by an OHL team is an exciting yet stressful experience. When my name was announced by the Soo Greyhounds, my basement which was filled with family erupted in cheers. One of my first celebratory phone calls was from my brother Bryce.  To play on the same team as my brother has made this experience pretty special’ stated Brodie.

He added, ‘I am honoured to play for the Greyhounds and hope to make this organization proud that they selected me.  Special thanks to my family for always supporting my dreams. To all the coaches who helped to develop me into the player l am today, thank you.  I am excited for my next hockey journey’

A woman had suffered significant injuries as a result of an assault by a white male suspect. 

The woman was transported to Thunder Bay Hospital to be treated for her injuries. 

A white male suspect on bail for sex assault charges on children was identified and located by TBPS Officers.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~  December 6, 2022  (LSNews)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers responded to a call of violence last night, Monday December 5,2022 at the Landmark Inn parking lot at 1010 Dawson Road. 

TBPS Officers arrived at 10:17pm to investigate and learned an indigenous female from North Spirit Lake had been assaulted.  

There were witnesses to the assault and Officers learned through their investigation that the indigenous male suspect had consumed half of a 40 ounce bottle of alcohol which caused him to become very aggressive.

TBPS Officers arrived to find a young indigenous male had been stabbed with a knife. 

The victim was taken by Superior North paramedics to Thunder Bay Hospital to be treated for his wounds.

The suspect was wanted on arrest and bench warrants. 

It’s alleged the white male suspect failed to attend court on December 2,2022. 

It’s further alleged that the same suspect stole a bank card and used it to charge $783 worth of merchandise on September 12, 2022.

LCBO ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED BY TBPS

Indigenous male threatened violence

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  December 5, 2022 (LSNews)   Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers have made an arrest regarding an LCBO robbery that occurred on Friday, December 2, 2022. 

It’s alleged that an indigenous male was stealing liquor at the LCBO located at 1095 Arthur Street West on that date when he was confronted by staff who requested he stop stealing.  

The suspect threatened violence on LCBO staff and fled the store with the stolen liquor.
