SIJHL ANNOUNCES RETURN TO PLAY

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  January 17, 2023  (LSNews)  As of June 28, 2022  Chief Sylvie Hauth has been suspended from her role as a result of the serious allegations brought forward by the Ontario Civilian Police Commission (OCPC), pending the outcome of that process. 

Today she submitted her letter of resignation after being on leave for six months

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~   January 17, 2023  (LSNews)  A 42 year old STEVEN JAMES KOZAK (DOB:June 23,1980) was ordered released by Justice of the Peace Tobey Meyer on $500 cash deposit bail yesterday, Monday January 16,2023. 

KOZAK was arrested after Thunder Bay Police executed a search warrant at his Apartment 307 at 1209 Victoria Avenue East on December 1,2022.  

TBPS Officers seized 322 grams of crack cocaine and almost $8000 in cash. 

KOZAK is a disability recipient who lives in Thunder Bay Social Housing.

LAC SEUL, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  January 16, 2023  (LSNews)  Hardworking Lac Seul Police Officers responded to a call of knife violence on the Reserve on Saturday January 14,2023. 

Officers learned that a woman with a knife had assaulted a male and another woman with a knife had slashed the the other female.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~  January 16, 2023  (LSNews)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers responded to a call of violence early this morning, Monday January 16,2023 in Current River. 

TBPS Officers arrived at the home in the 400 block of Adelaide Street and learned that two women were having a dispute about text messages.

SAULT STE MARIE, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  January 15, 2023  (LSNews)  In the Media Release the Sault Ste Marie Police Service reported that on January 13, 2023, detectives in Investigation Services charged 56-year-old Michael Lajoie with sexual assault with a weapon.

On December 15, 2022, officers began an investigation regarding complaints of assault against the accused. Through the investigation, officers developed grounds to believe the accused victimized five people by assaulting them and striking them for a sexual purpose. None of the victims suffered physical injuries that required medical treatment.

Officers located the indigenous female suspect who allegedly stole merchandise.

TRACY ANDREA WAPOOSE was criminally charged with theft under $5000

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~  January 14, 2023  (LSNews) Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers have arrested a man wanted on an Ontario wide warrant for shooting a senior citizen on September 22,2022 in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

The white male suspect was arrested without incident by hardworking TBPS Officers.

KENORA, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  January 13, 2022 (LSNews)  Kenora OPP Officers witnessed a suspected drug transaction on January 6, 2023 during an investigation.

A 40 year old white male suspect was arrested and is facing several charges after being busted with cocaine, meth, cash and two weapons in downtown Kenora.

• -make available child pornography
• -possession of child pornography
• -voyeurism
• -exposing genitals to child under 16
• -luring child under 16 X 2

SUDBURY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  January 12, 2023 (LSNews)  Detective Staff Sergeant G. Renaud Integrated Crime Section Criminal Investigation Division in a media release reported that on January 10, 2023, Detectives from our Integrated Crime Section (I.C.S.) working in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (O.C.E.B.) began an investigation into a group of individuals from Southern Ontario who were believed to be in Greater Sudbury trafficking illicit drugs.
