KENORA, POPULAR HILL  ~~~~  June 25, 2022 (LSNews)  Hardworking Nishnawbe Aski Police Officers on the Poplar Hill Reserve responded to a call of knife violence yesterday, Friday June 24,2022.

Officers quickly learned that a male band member, DELBERT STRANG had been stabbed with a knife and a female had been threatened with a knife.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~   June 23, 2022 (LSNews)  The Justice Centre has submitted an application for participatory standing at the inquiry being held into the declaration of the Emergencies Act by the federal government in response to the February trucker convoy and protest in Ottawa and blockades at various border crossings across Canada. If the application succeeds, the Justice Centre will have certain participatory rights at the inquiry, which may include a seat at counsel table, the opportunity to make evidentiary, factual and legal submissions, submit policy papers, suggest and cross-examine witnesses, and/or participate in deliberations.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  June 23, 2022 (LSNews)  This morning in a Media Release on Facebook Chief Hauth announced On Tuesday June 14th, I gave the Thunder Bay Police Services Board notice of my intent to retire as of June 14, 2023. At that point, I will have completed my 30th year as a Police Officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service.

A few hours later Ontario Civilian Police Commission Serves a Notice of Hearing on the Chief of Thunder Bay Police Services Following an investigation under s. 25 of the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.15. (PSA) into certain alleged conduct of Ms. Sylvie Hauth, Chief of the Thunder Bay Police Service, the Ontario Civilian Police Commission (OCPC), has determined that a hearing into the allegations is warranted. Accordingly, a Notice of Hearing has been served on Chief Hauth setting out three counts of alleged misconduct, contrary to the Code of Conduct included In Ontario Regulation 268/10 enacted under the PSA.

NIPIGON, ONTARIO ~~~~  June 23, 2022 (LSNews)   In a media release by Allison Lawrence      A/Media Relations Coordinator On June 22, 2022 at approximately 2:30 p.m., a member of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Nipigon Detachment was conducting general patrol along Highway 11-17 when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the eastbound lane.

SAULT STE MARIE, ONTARIO  ~~~~~   June 23, 2022 (LSNews)  On June 22, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 43-year-old William Ross with weapon and drug offences.

Around 4:00 a.m. officers observed a vehicle parked at a business in the 800 block of Great Northern Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop. Officers approached the vehicle and the lone occupant identified as the accused. Officers discovered the accused was wanted for breach of probation and he was arrested on the strength of the warrant.
