WANTED ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED DRUNK & SMASHING WINDOWS ON ELDERLY WOMAN’S HOME

Current River Ward

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  September 27, 2022 (LSNews)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers received a 911 call at 1:54am this morning, Tuesday September 27,2022 from an elderly woman in the 300 block of Balsam Street. The woman had been awoken by the sounds of windows breaking in her home. The basement window and back door window had been smashed.

TBPS Officers arrived on the scene shortly after 2am and located an intoxicated woman in the back yard with her arms covered in blood.

TBPS MEDIA RELATIONS COORDINATOR SCOTT PARADIS REFUSES TO TELL THE PUBLIC AGAIN

TBPS Officers arrested the indigenous female suspect.

The damage to the woman’s home is estimated to be $1000

Hardworking Officers also learned that the suspect was wanted on bench warrants since May 17,2022 for failing to attend court on robbery charges. But, TBPS Media Relations Coordinator Scott Paradis refused to tell the public. The suspect was able to commit further crimes because of the communications failure.

A 27 year old MEGHAN DESIREE BAXTER was criminally charged with:

  • -mischief
  • -fail to attend court X 3

BAXTER has outstanding criminal charges including robbery.

BAXTER sobered up in a jail cell at Balmoral Police Station and was ordered released on $250 no deposit bail this morning by Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio with conditions:

  • -reside with her mother Yvonne at 316 Franklin Street North
  • -no alcohol
  • -report weekly to Thunder Bay Police

BAXTER was released with a future court date.

TBPS Media Relations Coordinator Scott Paradis is refusing to tell the public again. He doesn’t really care if robbery suspects are on the loose or elderly woman are victimized. Scott is lazy and has trouble communicating.

Anyone with a picture of MEGHAN BAXTER us encouraged to message our page

SENIORS  AT HOME

  • Never open your door automatically. Use an optical viewer. At night, draw your blinds or draperies.
  • Lock your doors and windows. (Three quarters of the burglaries involving older persons involved unlocked doors and windows; and, less than one half of these robberies are reported.) Keep your garage doors locked.
  • Vary your daily routine.
  • Use “Neighbor Watch” to keep an eye on your neighborhood. A concerned neighbor is often the best protection against crime because suspicious persons and activities are noticed and reported to police promptly.
  • Don’t leave notes on the door when going out.
  • Leave lights on when going out at night; use a timer to turn lights on and off when you are away for an extended period.
  • Don’t place keys under mats, in mail boxes, or other receptacles outside your door.
  • Notify neighbors and the police when going away on a trip. Cancel deliveries such as newspapers and arrange for someone – a neighbor’s child, perhaps – to mow the lawn if need be. Arrange for your mail to be held by the Post Office, or ask a neighbor to collect it for you.
  • Be wary of unsolicited offers to make repairs to your home. Deal only with reputable businesses.
  • Keep an inventory with serial numbers and photographs of resaleable appliances, antiques and furniture. Leave copies in a safe place.
  • Don’t hesitate to report crime or suspicious activities.
