SANDY LAKE WOMANBEATER SENTENCED TO 360 DAYS TIME SERVED

THUNDER  BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  November 24, 2022 (LSNews)  A 35-year-old indigenous male, SIMEON SYLVESTER KENO appeared in person today, Wednesday November 23,2022 before Justice Chantal Brochu to plead guilty to two criminal charges from March 28, 2022

ADMITTED FACTS

KENO was in Thunder Bay with an indigenous female on March 28,2019.  He was on bail and probation conditions not to be in contact with the female.

They were drinking alcohol together at Newfie’s Pub on Simpson Street and then went to The Alley Bar at 236 Cumming Street.  Shortly after 11pm they left and were walking southbound on May Street.  KENO became very aggressive and this scared the woman who ran to hide behind the bus shelter in front of Paterson Court at 148 May Street North.

KENO located the woman and began violently kicking her in her left side abdomen, thigh and stomach.

The woman was able to get away and phone hardworking Thunder Bay Police.  She was brought for medical attention at Thunder Bay Hospital suffering serious bruising.

KENO was arrested and has been in custody since then.

KENO is guilty of:

  • -assault causing bodily harm
  • -breach of probation

JOINT SUBMISSION FOR SENTENCING

SIMEON KENO has Gladue Factors. He is a band member of Sandy Lake and has extensive alcohol and drug usage issues.

KENO is the father of five children.  They are all in the custody of Dilico Family Services.

KENO has a lengthy criminal record of drugs and violence as well as breaching court orders.

KENO has been in custody for 240 days. That will be enhanced to 360 days.

The joint submission is for time served of 360 days plus 12 months probation.

Justice Brochu accepts the joint recommendation and sentences KENO.

KENO was released from custody on Wednesday November 23, 2022

TBPS Media Relations Coordinator Scott Paradis and his taxpayer subsidized media buddies all refused to tell the public about this violent attack on a vulnerable indigenous woman.
