UPDATE ON EAST END CIGARETTE STABBING AND HOW IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.

On January 18,2019 a man with a brain injury was allegedly assaulted violently by 26 year old TRAVIS JACOB LOON.

Thunder Bay Police were quick to the scene but the alleged suspect had already left.

An arrest warrant was issued by Thunder Bay Police for the arrest of

TRAVIS JACOB LOON on January 18,2019

THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AT TBPS DID NOT NOTIFY THE PUBLIC THAT TRAVIS JACOB LOON WAS WANTED BY POLICE FOR THIS ACT OF VIOLENCE.

He remained at large without the public knowing for days.

IF THE PUBLIC HAD BEEN NOTIFIED, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT TRAVIS COULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED BEFORE THE STABBING INCIDENT.

Shortly past 12 am on Wednesday January 23,2019 it’s alleged that HARLEY & TRAVIS LOON approached a 30 year old male whom they did know near the Pacific Ave Bridge to East End. They asked the male for a cigarette. The random man did not have a cigarette for them.

HE WAS ALLEGEDLY STABBED TWICE IN THE NECK AREA FOR NOT HAVING A CIGARETTE. ONCE NEAR THE EAR AND ONCE NEAR THE SHOULDER.

THE VICTIM IS AT HOME RECOVERING FROM THIS TERRIFYING INCIDENT.

THUNDER BAY POLICE ARRIVE QUICKLY AND CAPTURED BOTH MEN.

Appearing by video this morning Wednesday January 23,2019  from the Thunder Bay Jail are 19 year old HARLEY BEDWASH-LOON & 26 year old TRAVIS JACOB LOON.

There are several family members of both suspects in the courtroom.  Some are crying about these suspects being in jail.

The Crown intends to show cause as to why they should be held in jail and denied bail.

A bail hearing is set for February 5, 2019

They remain in Thunder Bay Jail.
