LONGLAC DRUG DEALER ARRESTED BY OPP
LONGLAC, ONTARIO ~~~~~ January 19, 2023 (LSNews) Hardworking Greenstone OPP Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Longlac yesterday, Wednesday January 18, 2023.
Officers executed the warrant at 137 Centennial Drive where the drug dealer lives in his elderly parents’ basement.
A quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine & cash was seized by the OPP
A white male suspect with a criminal history of drug dealing was arrested.
A 27 year old DUKE DESHARNAIS (June 8,1995) was criminally charged with:
- -possession of methamphetamine for purpose of trafficking
- -possession of cocaine for purpose of trafficking
- -possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
DESHARNAIS was held overnight at the Greenstone OPP detachment and transported to the Thunder Bay Jail today, Thursday January 19, 2023.
DESHARNAIS has a court appearance scheduled on Tuesday January 24,2023

LONGLAC CRACK DEALER SENTENCED TO 15 MONTHS IN JAIL
ANOTHER FIVE MONTHS LEFT FOR DUKE DESHARNAIS
A 26 year old DUKE DESHARNAIS appeared by video today, Monday January 10,2022 from the Thunder Bay Correctional Center before His Honour, Justice Frank Valente to plead guilty to a criminal charge.
A joint submission is being presented to His Honour from Federal Crown Attorney Ron Poirier and defence lawyer Kevin Matthews.
ADMITTED FACTS
Hardworking Greenstone OPP Officers executed a search warrant on April 8,2021 at 137 Centennial Drive in Longlac. The home belongs to the parents of DUKE DESHARNAIS. DESHARNAIS was living in the basement and dealing drugs out the basement window while his parents lived upstairs and were looking after DESHARNAIS’ 5 year old son.
OPP Officers seized:
- -30.4 grams of crack cocaine
- -88.1 grams of powder cocaine
- -fentanyl
- -methamphetamine
- -$1380 in cash
- -2 computer tablets
- -1 cell phone
- -2 digital scales
- -drug paraphernalia
DESHARNAIS was serving a Conditional Sentence Order at the time for assault & forcible confinement on a woman.
As part of the plea deal, DESHARNAIS is only guilty of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
JOINT SUBMISSION
DESHARNAIS has been in custody a total of 6 ½ months and that will be enhanced to 10 months. DESHARNAIS has been working in the kitchen at the Correctional Center and has received letters of reference for the good work he has done. DESHARNAIS has taken courses on how to deal with his feelings & problem solving. DESHARNAIS has also completed a lengthy bible study course and received a certificate for his religious study.
DESHARNAIS is hoping to return to Longlac when released and work at the pizzeria there.
DESHARNAIS has a criminal record that starts in 2016 with drug convictions. His last convictions were for forcible confinement and assault on a female in 2020
Part of the plea deal calls for all drugs, the cash, scales and paraphernalia to be forfeited to the Crown. The 2 computer tablets and cell phone will be returned to DESHARNAIS
A DNA order & 10 year weapons prohibition is also proposed.
Justice Valente accepts the joint submission and sentences DESHARNAIS.
DESHARNAIS will be statutorily released near the end of April 2022
