FORMER TBNEWSWATCH EMPLOYEE SENTENCED TO 20 MONTHS JAIL

FOR MAKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~  November 22, 2022 (LSNews)  A 39-year-old white male, CHRISTOPHER  MCCULLOCH appeared in person today, Monday November 21,2022 before Justice Marc Bode to be sentenced for making child pornography.

ADMITTED FACTS

Hardworking  Thunder Bay Police Officers began an investigation on Nov. 3, 2019 after information was received that a local Internet user had uploaded files to the Kik Messenger website which were suspected to be child pornography.

KIK MESSENGER reported this to police.

An ongoing investigation revealed the suspicious files were consistent with child pornography. Investigators were also able to identify the local Internet user.

The user was CHRISTOPHER MCCULLOCH who was using the TBNEWSWATCH  internet at 87 Hill Street North and  his home internet at 225 Varsity Place to upload child pornography onto a KIK Messenger chat group called “LILSFAMILY6969

As a result of these findings, investigators obtained and executed search warrant for a residential address at 225 Varsity Place on Monday, January 20,2020.

Officers seized two cell phones & 4 external external storage devices.

MCCULLOCH initially was charged with possession of child pornography.

TBPS Officers searched the devices and located 155 pictures & dozens of videos of child porn that MCCULLOCH had created using a prepubescent female.

TBPS Officers also found messages that MCCULLOCH had sent to his group chat where he wrote about his desires in committing sexual assaults against young female indigenous children. The contents of the messages are incredibly revolting, repulsive & nauseating.

Inside Edition will not be describing any of the photos or conversations due to the completely offensive nature.

As a result of that evidence, another charge of making child pornography was made.

TBPS Officers also located encryption software that MCCULLOCH had used to try hide his activities from authorities.

MCCULLOCH PLEAD GUILTY TO MAKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY ON SEPTEMBER 28,2021

TBNEWSWATCH REFUSED TO REPORT THE GUILTY PLEA

All other charges were withdrawn.

JOINT SUBMISSION

CHRISTOPHER MCCULLOCH is originally from London, Ontario.  He moved to Thunder Bay about 20 years ago to attend Confedration College where he graduated the Television Broadcasting program.  TBNEWSWATCH hired him and he eventually became the Master Control Operator at the Thunder Bay television station.

MCCULLOCH felt comfortable working at the Dougall Media outlet for 16 years until his arrest. He has since been unemployed and has collected welfare.

MCCULLOCH was raised by a single mother and doesn’t know who his father is. His grandfather died of lung & brain cancer in 2018.

MCCULLOCH has no previous criminal record.

MCCULLOCH has attended counseling with members of the Catholic Church since his arrest.

MCCULLOCH has had a psychiatric assessment since his arrest.  The results of that are being sealed by the court.

A presentence report has also been done and is being sealed by the court.

Provincial Crown Attorney Mark Palombi & Defence Attorney Amanda Gallo have a joint submission to present to His Honour, Justice Marc Bode.

It is proposed that MCCULLOCH serve 20 months in jail and receive 3 years probation.  They are asking the court to recommend he serve his sentence at the Ontario Correctional Institute in Brampton.  They have special programs for sex offenders & pedophiles.

MCCULLOCH is asked by His Honour if he has anything to say.

“Saying sorry doesn’t absolve what I’ve done, but I’m sorry.  I’m disgusted by my actions.” MCCULLOCH tells His Honour.

Justice Bode tells MCCULLOCH that what he’s done is horrible and catastrophic.  A sentence of 4-5 years would not be unreasonable.

His Honour further comments about the innocence of children and the need to protect them.  Committing crimes against children is one of the worst offences in society.

“You will be scrutinized for a long time. I hope you have the strength to address this issue and build your character.”

Justice Bode orders a 20 month sentence with 3 years of probation.

MCCULLOCH is ordered to be placed on the Sex Offender Registry for 20 years.

Further orders include:

  • -no contact with victims & not be within 100 meters
  • -no contact with anyone under 18 for 10 years
  • -not attend parks, playgrounds, swimming pools or anywhere children might be
  • -no internet except for employment, finances or studies
  • -submit DNA to National DNA registry
  • -reside in Ontario unless Probation or Court approves change
  • -receive Sexual Offender behaviour training
  • -substance abuse programming

MCCULLOCH is led out of the courtroom in handcuffs by hardworking TBPS Officers to begin his 20 month sentence.

MCCULLOCH will statutorily released in 14 months.

LOCAL TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZED NEWS IS REFUSING TO REPORT THIS SENTENCING TO THE PUBLIC.
