BAYFIELD,  WISCONSIN ~~  May 1, 2020 (LSN)  Wild Rice Retreat, the first all-inclusive wellness retreat center in the Midwest, announces a virtual groundblessing ceremony taking place on Tuesday, May 5th at 4:00 P.M via Facebook Live (@wildriceretreat).  The ceremony will include a display of artist shovels, decorated and embellished by Chequamegon Bay area artists. Speakers include Heidi Zimmer, Founder and Developer of Wild Rice Retreat, a Native blessing by Brian Goodwinand remarks by State Representative Beth Meyers.

MINOCQUA, WISCONSIN  ~~  April 23, 2020  (LSN)   The communities of Wisconsin’s Northwoods are launching a new campaign to show support for their part of the state as travelers continue to navigate life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The campaign is being rolled out by The Northwoods of Wisconsin, a group of county and chamber officials from six counties, who’ve been collaborating to promote tourism to northern Wisconsin since 2011.  Partners include the communities in Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, Price and Vilas counties.

LANSING, MICHIGAN  ~~   April 22, 2020 (LSN)  The Michigan Public Service Commission today put on hold Enbridge Energy LP’s application seeking siting approval to replace and relocate the portion of the Line 5 pipeline under the Straits of Mackinac while the MPSC takes public comment and considers the company’s request for a declaratory ruling on whether new siting authority from the MPSC is needed for Enbridge to construct this segment.

As an anchor institution in the Arrowhead Region arts community, it is imperative to lead through our actions. We put the public interest ahead of our own.
 
The commitment to postpone or cancel programs is one we take seriously, with profound care and concern for the livelihood and vitality of working artists, our instructors, program participants, as well as our dedicated staff and volunteers.

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  March 12, 2020  (LSN)   As you are aware, there are several confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the State of Minnesota. The Grand Marais Art Colony is taking precautions as the safety and health of our students, staff, artists, visitors and volunteers is a top priority. 

Some of the actions we are currently taking include stepped-up cleaning of our buildings and our staff have taken on added responsibilities for cleaning surfaces we touch frequently such as door handles, handrails, tools, equipment, counter tops, etc. with disinfectants

HERMANTOWN, MINNESOTA  February 20, 2020  (LSN) –  Congressman Pete Stauber issued an invitation to high school students who reside in Minnesota’s Eighth District to enter the 2020 Congressional Art Competition. Every year, Congress holds an art competition to highlight talented young artists throughout the nation. The winner from each Congressional district will have their artwork displayed in the United States Capitol for the following year.
