COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  ~~~~~  September 14, 2022 (LSNews)  The marine shrink-wrapping, service and storage business previously operated by Eric Brisson and Tyler Smith of North Superior Fishery LLC, is changing hands. Valerie and Pat Eliasen, known as PAL in this venture, are taking over ownership this September and rebranding to Boat PAL Services LLC.

“We have both grown up on the waters of Minnesota and have a passion for boats,” said Boat PAL Services’ President Valerie Eliasen. “We are excited to further invest in the community we love and help boat owners in Cook County continue to enjoy our waters by making boat ownership easy.”

“Being born and raised in Cook County and us both being in public service for many years, we have a deep love for this community and knowledge of our waterways. When this opportunity came up, it was a great fit for us,” said Pat Eliasen. “We live on the water and we play on the water as much as we can, so we understand how important taking care of the boat is. We want to provide a trusted service for our neighbors in Cook County and believe that Boat PAL will be the friend that boatowners want looking after their watercrafts.” The business’s main operation which includes fully-recyclable shrink-wrapping, winterizing services, is located in the Cedar Grove Business Park in Grand Marais, at the base of the Gunflint Trail. The three-acre lot has room for many more boats. Boat PAL Services hopes to add indoor storage as an option.

Pat was born and raised in Grand Marais and has served the community as a Law Enforcement Officer for over 27 years, the last eight as your Cook County Sheriff. 2023 wi l l mark the start of his third term as Sheriff. He also holds a Masters's Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and is an adjunct professor for Concordia University St Paul. Valerie is the Executive Director of the North Shore Health Care Foundation, runs her own Communicat ion Consul tenancy and has 18 years in public leadership roles

    Cook County MN to Hold Capital Improvement Open House

    COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  ~~~~~   November 18, 2022 (LSNews)   Cook County MN will hold three open house meetings on Thursday, December 1, 2022, to gather community feedback that will inform the update of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for County buildings. The meetings will take place in the Commissioner’s Room inside the Cook County Courthouse at 411 W. 2nd Street in Grand Marais. There will be three presentations to accommodate attendance: from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. As room capacity is set at 40 people, those planning to attend should RSVP to or 218-387-3602 in advance.
