October Remembrances Honor Pregnancy and Infant Loss
MIDLAND, MICHIGAN ~~~~~~ October 4, 2022 (LSNews) Each year, more than a million families in the United States experience a miscarriage, stillbirth, or death of an infant. Yet because these events can be emotionally difficult to discuss, there is little public awareness, so families may not always get the support they need. October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to show support for these families, to highlight available resources and to build understanding of how family, friends and the community can help.

COOK COUNTY CONNECTIONS Halloween Safety
COOK COUNTRY, MINNESOTA October 29, 2022 (LSNews) Halloween is one of the most anticipated times of year for many, including the kids who go door to door collecting treats. Staff from the Sheriff’s Office will be patrolling to enhance public safety, but there are also steps that you can take to help ensure a positive evening for the children.
Beginning with the most basic of Halloween traditions, the first safety tip is costume accessories. Look for light-colored, flame-resistant costumes and other components that are labeled as flame-resistant or made of flame-resistant fabrics such as polyester or nylon. Also choose light-colored costumes when possible since they’re easier for drivers to spot at night. Use safe accessories made of soft materials that won't cause injury if your child falls on them. Try to complete the treat-gathering before it gets dark or equip the trick-or treaters with glow sticks or glow bracelets if they cannot safely carry flashlights.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~ October 13, 2022 (LSNews) The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train will return to the rails this season on its first cross-continent tour in three years, following virtual concerts in the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021. The train will again raise money, food and awareness for local food banks in communities along the CP network.
"I'm grateful to the CP team members who adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver two exceptional virtual Holiday Train shows and to all those who continued to donate while we kept community members safe," said Keith Creel, CP's President and Chief Executive Officer. "The Holiday Train is all about families and communities coming together to celebrate the season and help those in need. We are excited to be back out on the rails and in our communities, taking these two beautiful trains across our network and sharing the joy that comes with gathering in the spirit of giving."
