This week Cook County received notice 1 new COVID-19 case

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  ~~~~  January 3, 2023   (LSNews)  There is a LOW level of COVID-19 circulating in the community.

36.3% of people in Cook County are UP-TO-DATE with vaccination.

Someone is considered UP-TO-DATE after receiving the Bivalent booster dose at least 2 months after completion of the primary vaccine series or last monovalent booster. More info at: https://mn.gov/covid19/vaccine/data/index.jsp

To lower the impact COVID-19 has on our lives and community, remember:

  • -Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines. Call Sawtooth Mountain Clinic at 218-387-2330 to find out if you are up-to-date and to schedule a vaccine appointment.
  • -Get tested if you have symptoms.
  • -People with symptoms should wear a mask.
  • -People with symptoms and a positive test should Isolate for at least 5 days from the day that symptoms started, if no symptoms are present but test is positive, day zero is when testing was performed.
  • -People with a positive test should wear a mask.
  • -People who has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask and get tested at least 5 days after the exposure day.
  • -People at high risk for severe illness, should talk to their healthcare provider about whether is needed to wear a mask and take other precautions.
  • - People immunocompromised is encouraged learn more about how to protect themselves.

    THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~  December 26, 2022 (LSNews)   On December 14, 2022,  Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. “That’s why our government is the first in North America to require naloxone kits be accessible in at-risk workplaces by June 1, 2023, to raise awareness for those struggling with addiction, reduce stigma and save lives.”

    In 2021, 2,819 people died from opioid-related causes in Ontario – the highest number on record and up from 366 in 2003. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can temporarily reverse an opioid overdose, restore breathing within two to five minutes, and allow time for medical help to arrive.

    In 2023, the 32nd Annual Grand Marais Arts Festival will be returning to its traditional harbor front location. Changes to this year's festival include a smaller, more curated festival (60 booths).
