THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~July 24, 2022 (LSNews) The summer theatre tradition returns to the Paramount Theatre stage as Badanai Theatre prepares to open The Marvelous Wonderretes next week. It's going to be Marvelous Summer Theatre show
In this smash Off-Broadway hit, audiences will take a trip down musical memory lane with over 27 classic hits of the 50's and 60's, like "Lollipop," "It's My Party," "Dream Lover," and "Stupid Cupid." Created by Roger Dean, The Marvelous Wonderettes is directed by Spencer Hari and choreographed by Candi Badanai.
The musical unfolds at Springfield High on prom night in 1958, and then fast-forwards to the 10-year high school reunion in 1968. The Marvelous Wonderettes are the girl group — originally thrown together as a last-minute replacement for the boy band, whose lead singer was caught smoking in the boy’s room. The quartet is comprised of Missy (Amanda Commisso), the bespectacled brainiac; Betty Jean (Katherine Nemec), the goofy class clown; and Suzy (Jaime Morrison), the gum-chewing ditz; Cindy Lou (Tegin Menei), the smug, pretty Prom Queen in Waiting. Or so she thinks.
"The Marvelous Wonderettes is a show that appeals to all ages for a number of reasons. The songs are recognizable, the characters remind us of ourselves, or people we know/have known, and our time in high school. And it's just good fun - what better reason do you need to enjoy a night out in the theatre?!" said Candi Badanai. “It’s almost a reunion of sorts for the four cast members who have all worked together before. “You just fall in love with the girls themselves, their personalities, and the music” said Badanai. “The music is fun and the power of friendship is prevalent throughout the entire show. You’ll love it.”
Don't miss your second chance to have a blast on prom night! Tickets can be purchased at badanai.eventbrite.ca for $25. Show time is 7:30 pm nightly from July 26st to 28th & August 2nd to 4th, 2022 at the Paramount Theatre. Sponsored by TBXI Xerox.
