Hospital Fund Northshore

NIPIGON, ONTARIO ~~~~  December 24, 2022  (LSNews)  MPP, Keving Holland was in Nipigon on Thursday to announce over $800,000 in funding for hospitals in the District. Nipigon District Memorial Hospital received $111,938, North of Superior Health Care Group received $482,720 and the Sante Manitouwadge Health Hospital received $243,514.

On behalf of Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones, Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP Kevin Holland unveiled $482,720.00 to support critical upgrades and repairs

“NOSH is grateful for the continuing support of the Ministry of Health, as evidenced by this significant HIRF investment in the maintenance of our critical hospital infrastructure in Terrace Bay and Marathon,” said NOSH Chief Executive Officer Adam Brown.

“Our government is making investments to ensure Ontario’s hospitals and community health infrastructure continue to be state-of-the-art facilities,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This funding will also help build the capacity we need to end hallway health care and ensure people continue to receive world-class care.”

Ontario’s investments over the next 10 years will lead to $40 billion in health infrastructure across the province.

Upgrades, Repairs In Manitouwadge

“I am pleased to see this funding come to Northwestern Ontario,” said MPP Holland. “The money will allow our partners in the health care system to address urgent infrastructure renewal needs such as upgrades or replacements of roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and back-up generators.”

This funding is part of the government’s investment of over $182 million provided through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund and the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund.

“We are extremely grateful NDMH has been selected to receive the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund grant for the 2022/23 fiscal year,” said Lauren Haskell, Chief Financial Officer for the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital. “As an aging facility in the North we rely heavily on this funding to make essential infrastructure repairs to our hospital.”
