Chamber launches 2022 #ChooseTBayFirst campaign

to highlight the importance of shopping local

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  November 14, 2022 (LSNews)  The Thunder Bay of Commerce is kicking off its 2022 #ChooseTBayFirst holiday campaign. The campaign is designed to bring awareness to the importance of shopping local and how every local purchase impacts our community.

Shoppers are being encouraged to explore Thunder Bay’s business community and share their local finds by using the hashtag #ChooseTBayFirst when posting to social media.
Until December 1, individuals who participate in the #ChooseTBayFirst hashtag contest can win $1,000 in local gift certificates. Contest information is available at

“We’ve been working with the business community on ways to encourage consumers to explore what’s here in Thunder Bay,” says Charla Robinson, President of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce. “This campaign gives community members like you and I the opportunity to have a voice and to showcase what we love most about supporting local”.

“This campaign also focuses on the benefits to the shoppers themselves. Supporting a local business gives you, the shopper, an opportunity to connect with entrepreneurs and business owners who give back. They employ Thunder Bay people, pay municipal taxes, donate to local causes and in turn continue to help build thriving neighbourhoods. Shopping local is also very personal, you’re examining your purchases firsthand for quality, suitability, and you know what you are getting before you buy,” concludes Robinson.

The 2022 #ChooseTBayFirst campaign is proudly supported by the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC).
