VOX POPULAR TO RECORD CONCERT SERIES
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~~~ July 31,2021 (LSNews) August 1st and 2nd, Vox Popular Media Arts is recording 8 concert performances of original music by local artists to be presented during our 17th annual festival, September 16th to the 26th.
This year’s online festival will feature 50+ films from local, Canadian, and international filmmakers, Q&A / panel discussions with filmmakers, 8 part concert series, a virtual art gallery, and an art creation contest titled: #ArtForThePeople.
About Concert Series:
Due to the pandemic, we have had to completely reinvent our organization and events. We opted to hold a virtual festival in September 2020, where our audiences could experience films, interviews, and concert performances from their home.
The concert series was a powerful force in the Thunder Bay music community. For all of the musicians involved, it was one of the only opportunities for them to perform during the pandemic. Every music venue has shut down, and some risk never coming back. This is why we knew we needed to make another concert series. It is a lifeline for music in our region.
The series combines filmmaking, audio production, projection art, set decorating, and musical performances, into community driven concert videos that will document a key moment in our region's history.
The concert series, supported by the Ontario Arts Council, will involve 8 performances from local and regional artists. The artists will perform 15 minute sets of their original music.
It will be filmed over the course of 2 days at Trinity Hall (30 Algoma St S, Thunder Bay, ON P7B 3A8) , on August 1st and 2nd.
Bands Involved: Danny Johnson, Rodney Brown, Danielle Pollari, Jake Vaillant and the Town, Action Cat, Pedestrian Lifestyle, Morning Light Acoustic Quartet, Wrong Odds.
Media Artists Involved: Adrien Harpelle (Director / Editor), Kelly Saxberg (Camera), Morningstar Derosier (Camera), Alyssa Kusik (Set Design / Camera), Derek Okeese (Camera), Jean-Paul De Roover (Audio Production), Keegan Richard (Photography / Projection Art), Marlon Legarde (Production Assistant) RJ Cayunga (Graphics / Animation).
