Dick Spooner fundraiser for Ukraine

Trinity United Church this Saturday

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~  July 4, 2022 (LSNews)   Thunder Bay artist Dick Spooner sits behind two of his photographs in the sanctuary of Trinity United Church on Algoma Street.

Spooner will be one of 40 artists and crafts people who are donating their art works to a fundraiser for Ukraine this Saturday, July 09th.

The organizers have curated a number of different artistic media to be put up for sale. A variety of quilts, original paintings and watercolours as well as ceramics are in the inventory. Talented scrap bookers have also created unique family-centred scrapbooks into which you can mount your family’s pictures.

Most of the works are open for direct sale. However, there will be several silent auctions as well.

One special item is an original print from the late Ojibwa artist Isadore Wadow of Beardmore whose Woodland genre paintings have been favourably compared to his cousin Norval Morriseau.

The money raised will be used to help purchase medical supplies for medics and first responders as well as supporting efforts to look after children orphaned by the war in Ukraine. The sale will be held in Trinity Hall across from the Armoury on Park Avenue. Entry is from Park Avenue.

The doors will open at 10 am. There’s a two-dollar entry charge with all of the monies collected going to the Canadian-Ukrainian charity Help Us Help.
