2022 SIJHL Showcase

Wessman Arena, Superior Wisconsin

SUPERIOR, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~  October 1, 2022 (LSNews)  Today the SIJHL is announcing details of its Annual Showcase.

This year’s edition, to be held at the Wessman Arena, home of the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets (NCAA DIII) in Superior, Wisconsin will take place on Friday October 21 and Saturday October 22. It will feature all seven SIJHL franchises playing a game each day and will incorporate an eighth team – UW-S Yellowjackets ACHA team – to round out the slate.

The defending SIJHL Bill Salonen Cup Champion Red Lake Miners will take on the Yellowjackets Friday night, while the Wisconsin Lumberjacks will skate against the NCAA squad Saturday night. Both games will be at 7:00pm CDT. These games are exhibition and will not count towards regular season standings.

All other games will form part of the SIJHL regular schedule, and points in the standings will be on the line

Of the revised format, SIJHL Commissioner Darrin Nicholas had this to say

“We think this year’s edition of the SIJHL Showcase will provide for some real interesting comparisons that scouts can draw when evaluating our players. Of course, it will be the only opportunity this season to have all SIJHL teams in the same rink, but playing in an NCAA building, and brining in NCAA competition will add a unique twist to the event that we are really excited about.”
