Thunder Bay Police Chief Retires  Lake Superior News

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO -April 27, 2018 -  (LSN)  J.P. Levesque, Chief of Police of the Thunder Bay Police Service, has announced his retirement after 31 years of service. Chief Levesque became the 8th Chief of Police for the service in 2011.


Thunder Bay Police Services Board Chair Jackie Dojack accepted Chief Levesque's retirement saying, "Chief Levesque has had an accomplished career which has been marked with distinction, leadership, and tremendous integrity in service to the community. We wish J.P. all the best as he enters a new chapter of his life."


During his career, Chief Levesque has worked in many facets of policing including criminal and drug investigations, training, incident command and administration and served in senior leadership roles as the Service's Superintendent and Deputy Chief of Police before taking on the role of Chief.


Board Chair J. Dojack also announces the appointment by the Thunder Bay Police Services Board of Deputy Chief Sylvie Hauth as the Acting Chief of Police, and Inspector Don Lewis as the Acting Deputy Chief while the Board begins the process of a national search for a new Chief of Police.
